For those of us religiously bound to our TV screens, it’s the perfect time to catch up on all the thanksgiving shows your pals have been talking about. You probably don’t have enough time to watch the Thanksgiving movies or the entire series. Well, you need not worry as there are countless classic Thanksgiving moments from TV shows to tide you over. So, as you settle in after stuffing your tummies with turkey and pie, these are a few shows to binge on. Friends (Season 5)

Undoubtedly, this one is by far the most fav episode where all the gang recalls the past Thanksgiving gone awry. With many friends folklore and witty jokes, this flashback episode is where everyone reminiscences about their worst Thanksgiving. We can’t forget the famous Monica and Joey with a turkey stuck on their head. You can’t help but fall in love all over again with every character of the series. That’s not all, you’ll also learn about the reason for Chandler’s eternal hatred for Thanksgiving. And of course, the scene where Monica attempts to seduce young-adult chandler.

Thanksgiving Orphans, Cheers (Season 5 Episode 9)

This sitcom on our list surely packs a punch. Like thanksgiving has all the elements of a perfect holiday, Cheers has all the scenes to keep you entertained over the weekend. The characters in the episode, down on their luck after their Thanksgiving dinner plans foil, gather for a potluck. You’ll witness an epic food fight which is messy and funny and will make you long for a group of friends who, once in their friendship years, have thrown a handful of mashed potatoes at each other. And yes, how can we not mention the long wait for Norm’s slow-cooking turkey?

Huangsgiving, Fresh off the Boat (Season 2, Episode 8)

We all know that Thanksgiving dinner hosting comes with a lot of responsibility and a huge list of things to do. And that’s what exactly Jessica went through when her mum called her at 5.30am on Thanksgiving Day. Later that afternoon, she was burdened with hosting dinner. With only a matter of hours on the clock for preparing a meal, she was still determined. But what’s a family gathering without some drama? From last-minute shopping to relatives complaining about the feast, things started off a bit chaotic but eventually, everything comes together. Friday Night Lights (season 4, Episode 13)

It’s no surprise to say that for many watching football is as important as gathering over a dinner table on Thanksgiving. Master of None (Season 2, Episode 9)

This episode is the series’ best instalment ever. However, it’s known for a romantic comedy series but it took a break for an episode as the character Dev gives insight into his best friend Denise’s life. The director artfully directed the Denise’s childhood through adulthood, where she and her family come to terms with her sexuality. This epic episode is more about the strength of black women and self-acceptance. And what makes this episode a must-watch on Thanksgiving is the turkey dinner and mashed potatoes that bring this matriarchal family together.

A Deep-Fried Korean Thanksgiving, Gilmore Girls (Season 3, Episode 9)

The Gilmore Girls fits well with the holidays and this episode will leave you with a warm and fuzzy feeling. The characters Rory and Lorelai split the holiday into four visits where they try different cuisines. The first tofurkey at Kim’s, a deep-fried turkey at Sookie’s, and then eventually to Emily and Richard’s. Each part is a little slice of small-town family life. This amazingly scripted and directed Thanksgiving episode will make you feel comfortable and safe, just like putting on a big, soft sweater in the cold.

Blair Waldorf Must Pie, Gossip Girl (season 1, episode 9)

For those who like an extra topping of drama over their Thanksgiving meal must revisit this Gossip Girl episode. The episode features flashbacks of Turkey Days past which come with a side of juicy history about your favourite Upper East Siders and secrets to marinate in. The addition of thanksgiving episodes is as classic as Tiffany’s on the series. But what top the entertainment rating chart is when Dan invites the Van Der Woodsens to his Brooklyn loft. In the meantime, somewhere uptown Blair is having an awful holiday.

Parents, New Girl (season 2, episode 8) 

Th New Girl series has celebrated Turkey Day a number of times in its six-season run, but season 2 is the standout. In the episode, Jess attempts to reunite her divorced parents by inviting them both to the loft for Thanksgiving. The parents really make the holidays awkward for the children. Besides all the chaos, the series will teach you how with time and friends we can move on and make new memories and traditions.

Homecoming, The O.C. (season 1, episode 11)

There’s no denying that if there’s ever a time you’re pulled home, it’s thanksgiving. And that’s exactly what happens to Ryan in The O.C. In the episode, Ryan and Marissa travel back to Chino to visit his imprisoned brother. All the episodes of this teen drama are full of highs and lows. It will be adorable to watch the struggles of the characters and the joy of meeting with beloved ones around this time of year.
